Bodine Electric at MD&M West 2026

Bodine Electric Company exhibited for the second time at the MD&M West trade show in Anaheim, California from February 3 – 5, 2026. The show floor was divided into four areas of interest: Medical Design & Manufacturing, General Design & Manufacturing, Plastics, and Automation/Packaging. Bodine Electric chose to relocate from the Automation/Packaging area to the Medical Design & Manufacturing area this year. Our objective was to emphasize our longstanding involvement in the MedTech industry and so we wanted to be in the area where people from that industry were spending their time.

Scott Seeley in Bodine Electric’s booth number 1599 at MD&M West 2026 with six Bodine products on the table to represent the solutions we have for MedTech applications.

Team Bodine consisted of Terry Auchstetter, Director of Marketing & Product Development, Scott Seeley, Customer Service & Channel Operations Manager, and Bernie Santerre, Strategic Account Manager. We displayed six products at the show, intended to represent a cross section of our 1500 stock models and also to represent our capabilities to customize those products uniquely for MedTech applications. These six products were:

  • Our new type 42R6BQPP-FX – an AC 3-phase Inverter-duty parallel shaft gearmotor with IP66 construction and a built-in terminal box.
  • Our type 42A motor with a power-off brake – brakes are used on Bodine gearmotors in a number of MedTech applications where a patient bed must remain held in position with no power applied.
  • Our type 33A5BEPM-5L/H brush-type DC worm gearmotor with hollow output shaft – a similar unit is used in a breast biopsy table.
  • Our type 34B high-speed brushless DC motor – customized for a high-pressure pump drive in a hydrosurgery instrument. One of the modifications was a special wire harness using shielded cable and special grounding to reduce electromagnetic interference (EMI) that might interfere with other medical devices in the hospital room.
  • Our type 22B3FEBL-3F brushless DC worm gearmotor modified with an incremental encoder attached – a similar gearmotor is used on a mammography system, with the encoder enabling closed-loop positioning of the imaging scanner.
  • Our type 22B3FEBL-Z brushless DC parallel shaft gearmotor with many modifications that are typical of MedTech applications – including special metal-shell electrical connectors, an incremental encoder, a customer flange-mounting casting, and a spur gear attached to the output shaft.

While our primary objective was to meet face-to-face with our existing and prospective customers, MD&M West also presented a good opportunity to connect with our media partners. Terry Auchstetter invited Lisa Eitel, editor at Design World magazine, to our booth for an interview covering a number of topics, including what motor applications can be found in warehouses, what “low voltage” means to Bodine Electric Company, and how Bodine gearmotors can be a solution for both “process” applications and “automation” applications. Highlights of that interview can be found in Lisa’s online Motion Control Tips article “Motor torque to tiny tech at MD&M West 2026.”
