Bodine Electric Company participated in the Motion Automation Summit at Motion’s headquarters in Birmingham, Alabama. While the event spanned the whole week for the approximately 30 product specialists at Motion, Bodine’s participation was limited to Wednesday, October 1, only. Mike Gschwind (VP of Sales & Marketing), Scott Seeley (Customer Service & Distribution Channel Manager), and Terry Auchstetter (Director of Marketing & Product Development) represented Bodine Electric.

Motion has been a national distributor of Bodine Electric motors, gearmotors, and electronic speed controls for 25 years. Before 2000, only individual branches of Motion (then known as Motion Industries) were recognized as authorized Bodine distributors.
Kicking off the schedule with vendor presentations on Wednesday morning, the Bodine team divided and conquered. While Scott gave a virtual presentation to Motion employees who attended online, Terry gave an in-person presentation to the 30 or so Motion product specialists in an auditorium setting. Scott gave a general overview of Bodine Electric Company and how we work with Motion, while Terry gave a technical training on one of Bodine’s newest product families: our hypoid gearmotors.

After our presentations, we met with some of Motion’s procurement team and discussed their key performance indicators for their suppliers. We learned that out of the thousands of suppliers that Motion works with, Bodine Electric ranks in the top 70 suppliers in 2025, in terms of meeting Motion’s expectations for an ideal supplier (we were in the top 80 in 2024).
At the end of the day, we joined the Motion team at a BBQ dinner outside their Learning & Development Center. We were fortunate enough to be seated with a group of guys who were involved in the sale of Bodine gearmotors for use in conveyors in Amazon warehouses. This gave us the opportunity to compare notes and to establish ways to work together.
